What is rSa ?

The revenu de Solidarité active (active solidarity income - rSa) was introduced on June 1st, 2009 in metropolitan France (January 1st, 2011 in the overseas départements ), and beneficiaries will receive their first payments on July 6th, 2009.

3 million households are eligible: 1.4 million who currently receive the RMI or API; roughly 2 million low-income workers. Who is rSa for ?

The rSa is for: full-time or part-time workers who earn low incomes or who are poor; wage earners on conventional or subsidised contracts; recipients of the RMI or API.

Three-quarters of the 3 million potential beneficiaries (i.e. 2.2 million people) are already registered with the Caisses d’allocations familiales (family allowance fund - CAF) or the Caisses de mutualité sociale agricole (rural family allowance fund - MSA).
